Equip Yourself with Fundamental Skills
This comprehensive program is specifically designed to equip you with the fundamental skills necessary to succeed in canine detection. Whether you aim to work within the private sector, train your own sport detection dog, or wish to enhance your knowledge as a law enforcement or military handler/trainer, our program will provide you with the knowledge and hands-on experience to excel.
Key Skill Building Concepts
You will build an understanding of key skill building concepts such as hide placement, reinforcement systems, and systematically modifying criteria, and how they effectively mold an exceptional detection dog.
Understanding of Scent and Odor Theory
Gain an understanding of scent and odor theory, create training plans, and develop strategies for searching and resolving training challenges. These fundamentals are odor-agnostic by design: the same reinforcement mechanics, criteria-shifting, and search strategy skills apply whether your dog ends up trained on narcotics, explosives, or water leaks.
You're Never Training Alone
Because students enroll and start on their own schedule, DDTA isn't a single class moving in lockstep. It's a community of trainers working through the program at every stage at once: someone a few lessons ahead who's already solved the problem you're hitting this week, someone a few lessons behind who needs what you just figured out. Beginners troubleshoot alongside people who were beginners months ago. Students finishing the course are still in the same conversations as students just getting started. That's not a thinner community than a single class moving together, it's a deeper one, because there's always someone in the room who's already been exactly where you are.

About the Creator
The Academy is taught by Robin Greubel, who has spent years building detection dog trainers for sport nosework and professional detection alike. Every video and assignment you submit gets feedback from Robin directly or one of the DDTA Coaches. You're not working through a static curriculum alone; you're building your training under the eye of someone actively coaching you through it, lesson by lesson.
